94 students, 310 miles

WARWICK — The Middle School Mileage Club, comprised of 94 sixth, seventh and eighth grade students who have made a commitment to exercising and getting fit, has completed its seventh season
Students stayed after school to walk, jog or run on the track. They kept track of their laps and miles with Mileage Club cards.
After completing a full card of eight laps, which is the equivalent to two miles, students earned necklaces or book bag chains with a purple or gold toe token.
Members earned a toe token every time they completed an additional two miles: 72 students have earned toe tokens and chains.
As a group, the Middle School Mileage Club ran, jogged and walked 1,240 laps, which is a total of 310 miles.
Justin Singh ran 49 laps - or the equivalent of 12.25 miles - to win the “big” foot charm as the Mileage Club member who covered the greatest distance.
Cristina Rivas also earned a “big” foot charm for being the female who ran the most laps. Cristina ran 41 laps, which is 10.25 miles.
Any additional Middle School students who are interested in joining Mileage Club can do so in the spring. For more information, visit www.wvmsmileageclub.weebly.com.
