— The Warwick Valley Middle School Mileage Club has successfully completed its eighth season, with 66 sixth, seventh and eighth graders have made a commitment to exercising and getting fit this spring!

Students stayed after school to walk, jog, or run around the track. They kept track of their laps and miles with their Mileage Club cards. After completing a full card of eight laps, which is the equivalent to two miles, students earned necklaces or book bag key chains with a purple or gold toe token.

Athletes earned a purple or gold toe token every time they completed an additional two miles.

As a group, the Middle School Mileage Club ran, jogged or walked 1,308 laps which is a total of 327 miles.

Individually, Chandler Kent ran 74 laps, which is the equivalent of 18.5 miles. Chandler won the “big” foot charm as the Mileage Club member who ran the greatest distance.

Hannah Schabilon, also known as “Shabs,” also earned a “big” foot charm for being the female who ran the most laps. Hannah ran 44 laps, which is 11 miles.

Congratulations to Lauren Fox and Mairead Mulvihill who represented the Warwick Valley Middle School Mileage Club at the Jr. Classic Race in Middletown on June 2.
