Upper Greenwood Lake - John and Barbara Damelio, proprietors of the Damelio Commercial Contracting Inc., in Oakridge, recently donated the materials to replace the drop ceiling in the public room of the Upper Greenwood Lake Volunteer Ambulance Corps. Ambulance corps officials said the donation shows that there are other ways of supporting local volunteer organizations besides giving time as an EMT. In addition to carrying out its primary mission of emergency medical care and transportation, the Corps serves the community in other capacities. The ambulance building, besides being a home for two ambulances, is used as a community emergency shelter in the event of natural or other disaster, an emergency shelter for the Upper Greenwood Lake Elementary School, a polling station for elections and is rented out for private events. The Corps budget funds ambulance repairs and maintenance, first aid supplies, insurance, training for members, uniforms, member equipment, other operational expenses, utilities for the building, maintenance, and building improvement.
