Harriman — “Harriman LIVE!” will present performances by three local teen bands from 7 to 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18, at the social hall in the Harriman United Methodist Church on the corner of James and Church streets in Harriman. The bands, Left to Chance, Life Like the Movies and Submissed, will play original music. The event, a fund raiser for the social hall, is for teenagers only. Admission is $5, plus a suggested donation to the food pantry of $1 or a non-perishable item. The quintet Left to Chance is a true Orange County band, with members from Monroe, Warwick, Port Jervis and Cornwall-on-Hudson. Over the past two and a half years, they have changed their style and image and have a new singer and guitarist. The band has played at Club Crannell in Pougkeepsie, Tuscan Café in Warwick and the Hook in Brooklyn. They were invited to participate at the Colony Café in Woodstock as part of the garagerumble.com, a Hudson Valley teen battle of the bands. The recently formed Life Like The Movies from Monroe has Charlie Mack on vocals, Nick on vocals and guitar, Dan on guitar, Kyle on drums and Hilel on bass. The alternative rock screamo group makes use of the Internet to reach fans with their self-recorded-and-released demo. A full-length debut CD is due out in January 2007. The Warwick band Submissed began as a twosome with songwriter Peter Styka and guitarist John Hodgson, then added drummer Jeremy Truitt and bassist Greg Hodgson. The group has played at the Tuscan Café in Warwick and has a CD of recordings, some of which can be heard at www.myspace.com/submissed. The doors on James Street will open at 6:30 p.m. and close at 10 p.m. Supervision will be provide, and hot dogs, chips and salsa, and beverages will be sold. For more information, call 325-7652.
