Library transition slow but steady

To the editor: The Albert Wisner Public Library would like to thank all of its patrons for their patience over the past few weeks as the library migrates from one computer system to a new one. As with all computer system updates and changeovers the library's has not been without glitches along the way. This is especially true for our system which encompasses more than 51 libraries in the Ramapo Catskill Library System and getting all computers and services they provide in sync has been no easy task for the technicians at RCLS. Although the library staff has attended training sessions over the past few months, as with most new tasks, true competency takes place while learning on the job. Check out and Reference services may be taking a bit longer than usual but rest assured we will soon be up to speed. The library understands the frustration of our patrons when they have not been able to access from home our Web page and the library catalog. We have, however, been pleasantly surprised by the number of patrons who use this service on a daily basis and we want to assure them that the system is getting back to normal, as slow as that may seem. We are hopeful that in the very near future we will be able to provide all of our library services to our patrons with the efficiency they have come to expect. Again thanks for your continued patience. Rosemary Cooper Director, Albert Wisner Public Library
