Funds used to supplement collections, add Wi-Fi Internet service, redesign children’s room Warwick - The Albert Wisner Public Library has kicked off its third annual appeal to raise funds that will go directly toward growing the library’s collection, enhancing and adding programs and providing technological improvements. Although the library is funded by taxpayer dollars, additional funds raised through the appeal allow the library to expand the collection with popular titles and formats such as books on CD. Last year’s appeal raised more than $18,000. The money was used for: • A redesigned play area in the children’s room with new activity tables for toddlers. • 32 new comfortable oak chars added to all the adult areas of the Library. • Wireless (Wi-Fi) Internet service throughout the library and an additional public computer for the growing number of Library Internet users. • An updated and expanded classic literature collection with fresh, new copies of time honored titles plus an expanded collection of literary criticism for students. • A new scanner for use in the preservation of local history artifacts. • Playaway audio books, a compact, electronic listening device enabling users to listen to an entire book without changing cassettes or CDs. Friends and patrons interested in participating in the Albert Wisner Public Library’s annual appeal may pick up a donation packet at the circulation desk. All contributions are tax deductible. Donors who contribute at least $100 to the 2006 Literary Underwriters campaign will have a personally inscribed bookplate placed in a new book in the library. Their names also will be inscribed on the 2006 Literary Underwriters plaque that will displayed in the library.
