A Warwick police officer directs traffic at 4 p.m. Wednesday while crews from O&R and Asplundh Tree Service work on trees and power lines at the corner of Grand Street and Maple Avenue across from St. Anthony Community Hospital.Power was out Tuesday from about 6 p.m. until 5 a.m. on Wednesday. Mike Shaw, who works at the Mobil Station on the corner, was working when the lights went out. “We closed,” he said. “We couldn’t pump gas, use the cash register. We just waited for the key to arrive and we locked up around 7.” The Mobil Station is usually open 24 hours. Power was restored early Wednesday morning. Crews were on hand throughout the night and all day Wednesday to repair the lines and trim the trees. (Photos by Linda Smith Hancharick)
