WARWICK - U.S. Rep. Sue Kelly and Warwick Town Supervisor Michael Sweeton Wednesday unveiled plans to expand the trail system in the town in order to conserve open space and ensure the trails are complete and connected from village to village. Kelly obtained $400,000 in federal money toward the project through the Transportation Equity Act that passed Congress last year. “Open space is a very important issue in our daily lives here in Warwick and throughout the Hudson Valley,” Kelly said. “This is a very important return of federal tax dollars to the local community, and Supervisor Sweeton and other town and village officials are doing a great job moving forward with these plans to develop quality trails to meet the open space and recreation needs of Warwick residents.” “These funds will allow us to connect different parts of our town which will let all of our residents, young and old, experience our outstanding scenic beauty,” Sweeton said. Kelly also obtained an additional $1.2 million for Warwick in the Transportation Equity Act for repairs and improvements to East Shore Road, the replacement of Buttermilk Falls Road Bridge, and the construction of new bus shelters throughout Warwick.
