Albany - Criminals may try to steal financial information by posing as Internal Revenue Service representative; the IRS Web site lists several variations on this latest rebate-check scam involving criminals threatening to audit victims’ tax returns or withhold their stimulus-package checks, due to be sent out starting in May.
