WARWICK — Howard Werany, who celebrated his 102nd birthday last December, and other residents of Mount Alverno Center got the chance to show off their ballroom dancing steps on Wednesday, February 28, courtesy of Jubilee Multi-Cultural Arts Presents, Inc. As a community service, students and instructors from Jubilee’s ballroom dancing class entertained and danced with residents of the Center for almost two hours. “Where else can you walk up to a girl you’ve never met and end up holding her close?” laughed Mount Alverno resident Victor Mangone, who recalled how much he enjoyed ballroom dancing. “Everyone had such a nice time,” said Judy Battista, president and founder of the dance, music, arts and entertainment company. “The residents had looked forward to having us and it was really rewarding to give something back to our community by visiting and dancing with these wonderful people. And besides, they were great dancers.” Battista, who also hosts WTBQ’s “Latin Jubilee Radio Show,” is a Latin dancer and teacher, with over two decades of experience in Latin music and dance. “Our residents are still talking about how much they enjoyed the evening dance party with Judy and her instructors and students,” said Mount Alverno Administrator Lisa Fedorka. “Everyone had fun and we invite Jubilee Presents to return soon.”
