In the doghouse

Warwick - Now that the local weather is back to normal for February, the Warwick Valley Humane Society reminds residents that if they keep a dog outside, the “Doghouse Law,” enacted in 2004, demands that owners provide “insulation appropriate to local climatic conditions and sufficient to protect the dog from inclement weather.” The shelter should also be roomy enough for the dog to stand and turn around. However, if the dog has a 24-hour “doorman” like Rocket, a former resident of the Warwick Valley Humane Society’s Animal Shelter, an outdoor shelter may not be necessary. (Photo by Roger Gavan)
