    School district changes honor roll criteria for all students Warwick — In an effort to increase academic rigor and challenge students to a higher standard of achievement, the Warwick Valley School District has changed the criteria for making the “Honor Roll” and the “High Honor Roll” for all students. Beginning this year, Warwick students must now achieve a grade point average of 90 to 94.9 (Cum Laude), previously 85 to 89, for Honor Roll recognition, and a grade-point-average of 95+ (Magna Cum Laude), previously 90 to 95, to make High Honor Roll. Students who achieve a grade-point-average of 100+ will be recognized as Summa Cum Laude. Temporary road closure Warwick — Due to the continuing deterioration of the damaged culvert/bridge on Cascade Road near the intersection of Route 17A in Bellvale, the Town Board has ordered, on an emergency basis, that a temporary bridge be installed as soon as possible. According information from Supervisor Michael Sweeton’s office, this will entail closing that end of Cascade Road for five to seven days so that proper and safe installation of the bridge can be accomplished. Access to Cascade Road will be via Brady Road during this period of time. Halloween curfew Warwick — To ensure a safe and enjoyable night for the youngsters, a curfew against congregating and loitering by those 18 years of age or younger will be in effect from 8 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 30, to 6 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 31, and from 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31, to 6 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1. Leaf pick-up begins Nov. 1 in Village of Warwick Warwick —Now that fall is here the Village of Warwick Public Works Department will pick up leaves, beginning Nov. 1 through Dec. 31. Village officials ask residents to bag their leaves at the curb side. Residents participating in this program are required to use only brown bio-degradable bags. 'Meet the candidates’ night set for Nov. 2 Warwick — Warwick Grove is sponsoring its third annual “Meet the Candidates” night at its clubhouse on Wednesday, Nov. 2, at 7:30 p.m. All interested town residents are invited. The Town Supervisor and all the four candidates for the board will be in attendance. The candidate will present their credentials to fill the two open seats on the board and answer questions from the audience.
