    Tickets available for Citizen of Year tribute WARWICK — Long-time community leader Ben Winstanley will be honored as Warwick’s 2011-2012 Citizen of the Year during a Saturday, Oct. 15, banquet at the Warwick Country Club. Sponsored by the Warwick Valley Rotary Club, the Citizen of the Year tribute will begin with a social hour at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7. A silent auction, musical entertainment and dancing are planned after the presentation. Tickets are available at the Warwick Town Hall, Leo Kaytes Ford or by calling 629-6491. The cost is $50 per person. Winstanley is a former Greenwood Lake mayor, 16-year Orange County legislator and designer of the Orange County Veterans Cemetery Monument. Energy Reduction: The 10% Challenge Celebration Warwick — The Ten Percent Challenge Celebration, to be held Sunday, Oct. 16, from 1-4 p.m. at the Warwick Valley Community Center, will focus on energy in its many forms. The event will celebrate both reducing energy use in our community and increasing the personal and artistic energy that feeds health and well being. It is sponsored by Sustainable Warwick and the Warwick Valley Community Center. The afternoon will include activities for children, who will benefit the most from reductions in pollution and greenhouse gas emissions; Magic by Max, a show for all ages; a cooking demo with local and seasonal foods; information on conserving energy, renewable energy, home energy assessments and weatherization programs; exercise and dance classes. Door prizes will be awarded. Job fair at Tuxedo Ridge Ski Center to fill 100-plus seasonal jobs Tuxedo — Tuxedo Ridge Ski Center will host a two-day job fair Oct. 22 and 23 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. in the center’s main lodge. The ski center must fill more than 100 part- and full-time seasonal positions ranging from ski instructors to kitchen workers to cashiering. Job-seekers will be given immediate one-on-one interviews. There will also be live entertainment, food, raffles, give-aways, vendors, crafts and more. The lodge also has a kitchen and bar. The event also includes a ski swap, at which skiers and snow boarders can sell and buy new and used gear. Season passes will also be available for purchase and at lower rate than the usual winter price. Tuxedo Ridge Ski Center, which was formerly known as Sterling Forest Ski Center, is located at 581 Route 17A, Tuxedo. Registration is required to sell equipment. Town notes Warwick — The following items come from Supervisor Michael Sweeton’s office: A public hearing of the town board will be held to consider an application from AT&T for a wireless tower located at the town sewer/water property on Route 94 on Thursday, Oct. 13, at 7 p.m. A public hearing to acquire two parcels surrounding the Bellvale water well lot and Cascade Park from the County of Orange for back taxes will be held Thursday, Oct. 13, at 7 p.m. The next regular meeting of the Town Board will be held Thursday, Oct. 13, at 7:30 p.m. in the Warwick Town Hall, 132 Kings Highway. The next household hazardous waste collection will be held on Friday, Oct. 21, for businesses and farms, and Saturday, Oct. 22, for all residents of Orange County.
