If the shoe fits, or even if it doesn't

Girl Scout Troop 253 collecting 500 pairs of shoes for needy Warwick - The six members of Girl Scout Troop 253 in Warwick will be collecting any and all types of gently used men’s, women’s and children’s shoes throughout February that will then be distributed to needy families. The scouts, all 10- and 11-year-old fifth graders, have placed drop boxes at the following locations: Sanfordville Elementary School, Sports Fitness and Fun in Florida, Leo Kaytes Ford and Olympus Gym in Warwick. According to the troop leader, Lorraine Swanson, the girls hope to collect 500 pairs of shoes by the end of the month. At that point, they will then sort the shoes based on gender and “lace” them together so that all shoes are paired. Troop 253 will then deliver the footwear to Groo’s Shoes in Middletown, which distributes them locally to the Red Cross, United Way, churches, or anyone else that contacts them.
