IBEW Local 363 recruiting five apprentices
HARRIMAN - The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 363, will conduct recruitment from July 9 Dec. 7 for five apprentices, State Labor Commissioner M. Patricia Smith announced this week. Applications can be obtained at union headquarters at 67 Commerce Drive South, Harriman, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., the first full business week of each month. The union requires that applicants: Be at least 18 years old. Have a high school diploma with a passing grade in algebra or an equivalent high school mathematics course. Live within the locals geographic jurisdiction n all of Rockland, Orange, Ulster, Dutchess and Sullivan Counties; and parts of Greene, Delaware and Putnam counties. Have reliable transportation to work sites and related instructions. Be physically able to do the work and take a post-employment drug test at the sponsor’s expense. Apprentice programs registered with the Department of Labor must meet standards established by the Commissioner. Under state law, sponsors of programs cannot discriminate against applicants because of race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability or marital status. Women and minorities are encouraged to submit applications for apprenticeship programs. Sponsors of programs are required to adopt affirmative action plans for the recruitment of women and minorities.
