‘I am proud of my husband'

The following statement was made by Barbara Allen, the widow of First Lieutenant Louis E. Allen, at her home in Milford, Pa., on Friday, June 17: Not long ago I had everything that is important in life. Today I am lost. Lou gave me the life I always wanted but thought I would never have. Now I have to pick up the pieces for my boys. I am proud of my husband, and he was honored to serve our country. He was in New York on 9/11 and never doubted the military's response. I am proud of our families for their strength and their love. I am secure in the support of the military and the sincerity of their intentions. I am touched by our communities and their response. To all those who have written and donated, thank you. To those of you who paused and acknowledged the procession yesterday, I am grateful. The man who did this to Lou, Phil, and our families is a traitor and a coward. God may have mercy on him, but I hope no one else will.
