Humane Society looking for a foster family

Warwick - Sonny, a six-month old Shepherd mix puppy, is looking for a foster or adoptive family. When he was surrendered to the Warwick Valley Humane Society last February, he had a deformed left front leg, possibly from birth. But now he’s on the mend. Sonny, who lives at the Society’s Animal Shelter, just off King’s Highway, is undergoing continuous treatment to realign his leg. The other option, amputation, was considered but not selected. “We’re looking for a local family in the Warwick Valley to adopt or foster him,” said Suzyn Barron, president of the Warwick Valley Humane Society. “Sonny will need to visit the vet once or twice each week over the next few months. But the Humane Society will bear the medical expense for his leg for the duration of his treatment. We’re just looking for someone to give him a home and provide the transportation.” When Sonny is literally back on his feet, a foster family could return him to the shelter. Barron said that donations for Sonny’s continued care are greatly appreciated and may be sent to Warwick Valley Humane Society PO Box 61, Warwick 10990. For all local inquiries, call 986-2473.
