Event raises $10,000 for Schervier PavilionWARWICK —The St. Anthony Community Hospital’s second annual Classic Car Show was a success with over 130 classic and antique automobiles entering the event. The Oct. 21 event attracted crowds of visitors who were also taking advantage of unseasonably mild temperatures that afternoon. In addition to the large selection of classic and antique automobiles, the car show featured music, refreshments, door prizes, a 50/50 raffle and a “people’s choice” car judging. Visitors cast their ballots for the best of show. Bil McLaughlin won First Place for a uniquely painted 1930 Ford Model A. Melvin Moore’s flawless 1984 Ford Mustang took second prize and a pristine 1971 Camero Z-28 owned by John Kosen came in third. Warwick resident Wanda Vargas won the Grand Raffle Prize, a full day at the famous Skip Barber Racing School in Lime Rock, Conn. “I want to thank all the committee members and volunteers who worked so hard to make this Second Annual Classic Car Show such a huge success,” said Tom Brunelle, executive vice president/administrator of St. Anthony Community Hospital. “And all of us are especially grateful to the Warwick Central School District for generously offering the use of the Middle School parking area for this special event. We also wish to thank the car owners, local businesses and the public for their strong support.” The event raised over $10,000 and will be used to help purchase new resident lift devices for Schervier Pavilion, a 120-bed skilled nursing facility licensed by the New York State Department of Health and accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation. Schervier Pavilion shares the Warwick Campus of the Bon Secours Charity Health System with St. Anthony Community Hospital and Mount Alverno Center.
