Hospital seeks female volunteers for research study into bone loss

    West Haverstraw —The Helen Hayes Hospital Clinical Research Center in West Haverstraw is recruiting women to participate in a new research study examining treatments for osteoporosis. To be eligible for the study, a woman must be postmenopausal, in good general health, have osteoporosis as determined by bone mineral density tests or prior osteoporosis-related fractures, and either on no treatment currently or on the medications Fosamax or Actonel for at least one year. Individuals who participate in the study will receive free treatment with the osteoporosis medication Forteo. Participants will be reimbursed for time and travel.
