WARWICK - Time Magazine named it one of the most amazing medical inventions of the year. On Monday, June 19, at 7 p.m., Dr. Gary W. Theall, a Board-certified Surgeon and vice chairman of surgery at St. Anthony Community Hospital, will offer a presentation on EndoVenous Laser Ablation and the advantages of the new Luminetx VeinViewer, which makes subcutaneous veins visible to the naked eye. EndoVenous Laser Ablation (EVLT) is considered to be the most advanced and minimally invasive procedure for the treatment of varicose veins. The VeinViewer, Theall said, is a new guidance tool allowing him to visualize the exact location and orientation of the patient’s veins. It uses an infrared light source to image the hemoglobin in red blood cells, allowing a video camera to capture the images of the vein’s exact location. The video images are processed through a computer and projected onto the patient’s skin. To date, Theall is the only physician in New York State to own and utilize the Vein Viewer technology. The public is invited to attend the informative talk, which will be held in the Greenbriar Room at Mount Alverno Center, 20 Grand Ave., Warwick, just a short distance past St. Anthony Community Hospital. Following the evening lecture, Theall, whose practice is located at 14 Scotchtown Road in Goshen, will answer specific questions from the audience about the latest treatment for varicose veins.
