Historical society contributes to community

    Warwick —The Warwick Historical Society contributes in many ways to the community, including the following: • Owns and maintains historic museums including The Shingle House (1764), Baird’s Tavern (1766), and the Old School Baptist Meeting House (1810) • Owns and maintains historic properties including Lewis Park in Warwick Village and the Historic Cemetery on Galloway Road • Hosts annual social events including Baird’s “Tavern Night,” The George Washington Day Parade and Picnic, Under the Tent “Preservation Party,” and Harvest to Holly Tours • Maintains, catalogs, preserves and restores thousands of archival items and artifacts about Warwick from the early 1700s to the 20th century • Sponsors youth and civic activities including the WVHS History Club and the yearly educational tours for all WVCSD 4th grade students Additionally, the society answers hundreds of questions about Warwick history each year from local citizens and people from all over the country.
