The Community Foundation of Orange County, a non-profit public charity, was established in 1999 as a vehicle to promote philanthropy in perpetuity for charitable organizations throughout our region. The Community Foundation accomplishes this by assisting donors in executing their charitable intentions and encouraging them to make a difference in the community. The Executive Director, Karen VanHouten, indicated, “These locally-based endowment funds that were established for the purpose of awarding scholarships, are only one example of how endowment funds can promote educational advancement, and help support worthwhile causes throughout Orange County. Endowment funds are a powerful way to leave a legacy in your community.” Additional scholarships are also available to college students through the Community Foundation, including the new Spencer McLaughlin Scholarship, and the Frederick B. and Dorothy A. Wildfoerster Fund. Call the Community Foundation for details.
