High school junior named to national society of scholars

Warwick - Peter Fiduccia, a junior at Warwick Valley High School, has been selected for membership into the National Society of High School Scholars. The organization, founded in 2002, recognizes academic excellence at the high school level and encourages its members to apply their talents for the betterment of themselves and the world. Fiduccia is a member of the Warwick Valley High School Drama club; the WVHS select choral group, The Meistersingers; and was a member of All-State Chorus this year. He is enrolled in the pre-college division of the Manhattan School of Music in New York City. He’s also been a summer volunteer at St. Anthony Community Hospital. When he’s not busy, he enjoys plowing and tilling fields at his family’s farm on the weekends. The National Society of High School Scholars has 150,000 members, representing 15,000 high schools in nearly 20 countries. The organization advocates for scholarship opportunities for young people and has awarded more than $100,000 in scholarships since its inception. Among its board of directors are Claes Nobel, senior member of the Nobel Prize family; the writer Maya Angelou; Colleen C. Barrett, president of Southwest Airlines; and the actor and director Ed Harris.
