Have you seen Baby Jesus?

Warwick — The owners of the Phoenician Palace on Main Street in the Village of Warwick decorated their windows for the holidays with decorations representing Hanukkah and Christmas. But when co-owner Mansour Albaroudy checked out the display on the weekend of Jan. 5, he was shocked to see that Baby Jesus was missing from the Nativity display. The six-inch figurine had the child in a brown manger. “We bought (the display) special for this year,” said Barb Ranieri-Albaroudy, co-owner of the restaurant with her husband. “It’s very sad that somebody would do this.” Ranieri-Albaroudy said she and her husband just want their Nativity complete again, no questions asked. Anyone with information is asked to contact the owners. The phone at the restaurant is 986-2828. Or better yet, just drop off the little statue.“We’ll ask no questions,” said Ranieri-Albaroudy. “We just want our Jesus back.” A similar incident happened in Chester, when the Baby Jesus statue from the Nativity in front of the Walton Engine & Hose Co. firehouse was vandalized for the second year in a row. The original statue was stolen during the 2006 holiday season. On Jan. 1 of this year, firefighters discovered that the replacement statue, which had been donated by a member of the community, had been taken out of its cradle and lay smashed on the ground. Anyone with information about the firehouse vandalism should call the Chester village police at 469-4061.
