Good Shepherd Preschool is 40 years young

WARWICK Good Shepherd Preschool, Warwick’s longest running preschool, will celebrate its 40th birthday on Saturday, April 21 with an open house from 10 a.m. until noon for the Warwick community and members of the church. Located at 95 Kings Highway, and affiliated with Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Good Shepherd Preschool has maintained a long history of providing a strong Christian-based preschool program for Warwick area children ages 3 to 5 years old. “The preschool is proud of its long heritage of excellence and invites everyone: church members, past and present families of students, past and present board members, past teachers, assistant teachers and anyone in the public who would like to know more about the program,” said Barbara Gustainis, assistant to the Head Teacher Antoinette Quinn. During the birthday celebration, there will also be an opportunity for parents to enroll their children for the upcoming school year. The school serves 48 students each year on three levels with a student to teacher ratio of 8 to 1. Many of the students are second- and third-generation whose parents and even grandparents started their education at Good Shepherd, according to Rev. Ken Susskraut, pastor of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Key to the program’s success has been the school’s kindergarten readiness program for public school and emphasis on socialization and academics, all provided in a nurturing, compassionate environment. The preschool program is certified by the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod. Classes are held Monday through Friday, with the 3-year-old program held Tuesday and Thursday mornings; the 4- year-old program held Monday, Wednesday and Friday Mornings; and the Pre-K Enrichment program taught Monday through Thursday afternoons. Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and the preschool are located at 95 Kings Highway, Warwick. For information, call Susskraut at 845-986-3040 or Director Kristin Jedziniak at 845-987-1992.
