From the desk of Supervisor Michael P. Sweeton
WARWICK-Supervisor Michael P. Sweeton recently attended the New York Association of Towns' annual meeting in New York City where he and other elected officials voted on a legislative agenda for 2005. Among these were support to lobby for Medicaid financing reform, increased highway funding for towns, more incentives for volunteer emergency workers, equal assessment treatment for condominiums and local control for setting of town road speed limits. He said the Town Board will work with the association to pass these bills in the state Legislature. The Orange County Office of the Aging is offering help for seniors in preparing their 2004 tax returns. Any Warwick senior can call 988-9517 to set up an appointment to have volunteers assist in the preparation of basic, individual tax returns. These volunteers have been trained and certified by the IRS. A public hearing entitled "Amendment of Chapter 168 Street Specifications" will be held on March 10 at 7 p.m. in the Warwick Town Hall. The next regular meeting of the Town Board will be held on Thursday, March 10, at 7:30 p.m. in the Warwick Town Hall, 132 Kings Highway.
