From the Caboose: Warwick Valley Chamber's holiday bounty
Warwick - The Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce organizes events throughout the holiday season to bring attention to the special attractions that Warwick offers. For instance, a poinsettia mixer was held at General’s Garden Dec. 1, where guests voted for one of the many poinsettia varieties filling the greenhouse and raising funds for Warwick in Bloom. Each year the chamber also petitions Village Hall to encourage shoppers by offering free parking during December. To enhance this, the chamber provides colorful meter decorations which are installed by the “Christmas Carols” - Carole Rogers and Carol O’Connor. On Sunday, Dec. 11, from noon to 3 p.m., Santa will appear on Railroad Green, along with Castle Carriage’s massive black Percherons pulling the “omnibus” carriage, which tours between Memorial Park and Railroad Green. This is offered free to the public, compliments of the chamber. Each year the high school Meistersingers sing carols to the children while hot chocolate is offered courtesy of Bellvale Creamery. Parents are encouraged to take photos of their children with Santa in his sled and Gingerbread House. We thank the many volunteers of Warwick Valley Gardeners who have decorated the Railroad Green and various other sites throughout town and all of the departments of public works that are busy mounting holiday decorations. The holidays are here and we have much to be grateful for. This report was provided by Linda Glohs, the executive director of the Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce (www.warwickcc.org).
