Free prostate testing at Community Blood Services
Warwick Any man 40 years old or older who successfully donates whole blood or platelets at Community Blood Services’ Goshen or Warwick donor centers or at a mobile blood drive from June 11 to 16 may request a complimentary PSA assay test n a simple prostate cancer screening test that can help detect potential disease n at the time of his donation. “Offering complimentary PSA testing in honor of Father’s Day on June 17th is one way for us to show our commitment to the health of our community members,” said Patricia Cascino, manager of donor recruitment at Community Blood Services. Cascino said there Community Blood Services constantly needs blood and platelet donors to donate if it is going to keep enough blood on its shelves to help patients at the more than 35 hospitals it serves in northern New Jersey and southern New York. That need becomes even more critical during the summer because donors are away on vacation. Currently, Community Blood Services needs all blood types, particularly Types O positive, O negative and B negative. Hours at the Goshen site, located at 7 Coates Drive, Suite 5, are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday; noon to 8 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday; and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. The Warwick center, 20 Grand St. by the Mount Alverno Center at St. Anthony Community Hospital, is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday. Donors can make an appointment to donate whole blood by calling 294-3362, with walk-ins also welcome. An appointment is needed to donate platelets at the Goshen center.
