Free parenting workshop to be offered in Florida
Florida “Discipline is NOT a Dirty Word” is a three-part, hands-on parenting workshop series to be presented by Cornell Cooperative Extension Orange County for parents and caregivers of young children The first workshop will meet on Tuesday, Sept. 11, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., and on the following two Tuesdays, at Everything Grows Childcare and Learning Center, in Florida. The workshops will be led by Cooperative Extension Senior Resource Educator Denyse Variano, RN. This program series will help parents and caregivers learn and practice seven basic principles of positive and persuasive discipline. Topics will include: understanding your child’s behavior; the seven principles of positive and persuasive discipline; how to effectively communicate with your child; and setting realistic limits and natural consequences. There is no charge as funding has been provided by Orange County Youth Bureau, however pre-registration is required by Friday, Sept. 7.
