Warwick — Two people were injured last Wednesday when a van plowed into a stopped vehicle on Route 17A, causing another car into oncoming traffic as the driver waited to turn into Homestead Village. The accident occurred at around 3 p.m. Aug. 15. Caroline Onody of Warwick was stopped in a 2004 Chevy on Route 17A to make a left turn into Homestead Village. Behind her, James Glover, also of Warwick, was stopped. Patrick Antonelli of New Windsor, driving a commercial Ford van for Lincare, an oxygen delivery service, failed to stop and hit Glover’s car, which in turn hit Onody’s into oncoming traffic. Jennifer Anderson of Warwick was hit in her 1998 Pontiac by Onody’s car. Glover was taken to Westchester Medical Center with a head injury and was unconscious. Onody was taken to St. Anthony Community Hospital with neck injuries. Antonelli and Anderson were not injured. Warwick police Lt. Thomas Maslanka said none of the injuries was serious. Antonelli was given seven summonses for violating Department of Transportation regulations for transporting hazardous materials. According to Maslanka, driver inattention was the only contributing factor in this accident.
