Four bridge-playing couples win prizes

Warwick — Frank and Kate Lacalamita were first-prize winners in the Warwick Friends of Library couples’ bridge marathon in the recently completed round of play. Second prize was awarded to John and Kathy Humphreys. Carl and Jan Evans finished third, and Al and Judy Buckbee were fourth-prize winners. The Friends sponsor both day and evening marathons for women in addition to the couples’ marathon. Entrants follow a schedule which tells them who they will play each month and who will host the match at their home. The time for the match, which consists of 20 hands of bridge, is set at the convenience of the four people involved in that match. There are usually seven matches in a round played over a year’s time. The entry fees for each player are donated to the Wisner Public Library’s Friends group.
