Florida mayor facing challenge
Two trustees unopposed Florida Village of Florida Mayor James Pawliczek is facing opposition in the March 21 village election, while two trustees are running unopposed. Newcomer Edward Mythen will challenge the two-term mayor, who pulled off a stunning defeat in 2002 to unseat 28-year mayor John “Jake” Harter. Pawliczek had an easier time of it two years ago when he defeated village Trustee Joe Coleman. Thomas Fuller and Thomas Chevrier are seeking reelection and face no opposition. Fuller is looking for his third term, while Chevrier is seeking his second. Each of the positions is a two-year term. The election will be held at the Senior Center behind Village Hall on Cohen Circle from noon until 9 p.m. March 21. Anyone wishing to register may do so at the Orange County Board of Elections in Goshen until March 10. Absentee ballot application forms are available from the village clerk.
