Florida library programs feature books, baseball and Irish music
Florida - The following programs teens, adults and families are being offered at the Florida Public Library now through the end of the month. Teens and adults are invited to create a fun and funky paper bag book with local artist Renie Garlick on Saturday, March 24, at 2 p.m. at the library. Garlick will demonstrate how to make a book using a simple brown paper bag decorated with personal embellishments. Use the book as a journal, a scrapbook, or write your own story. Seating is limited; please call to register. Touching All the Bases: A Century of Baseball in Florida has been rescheduled for Sunday, March 25, at 2 p.m. Join Historical Society members Bob Scott and former Florida baseball coach John Kimiecik for a Powerpoint presentation on the surprising history of baseball in Village of Florida. They will discuss the Florida’s first baseball league that featured player Frederick Seward in 1866 through the present-day S.S. Seward baseball teams. Memorabilia also will be on display. This program is for adults and teens. Irish Heritage Day with Mrs. Sloat and Mr. Sloat of the Foggy Dew Irish Band has been rescheduled for Saturday, March 31, at 2 p.m. Families are invited to enjoy Irish music and dancers and Mrs. Sloat’s puppets.
