Fitness center collects tsunami disaster relief

    FLORIDA-Sports Fitness and Fun is collecting donations for the American Red Cross's tsunami relief effort. Contributions may be made at the health club, 470 Route 17A in Florida. "Heroes for the Red Cross" cards can be purchased for a minimum of $1 per card, and each contributor will receive a two-week guest pass to the club. For more information, call 651-1000. Shelter needs help Warwick - Warwick Animal Shelter requests donations of only canned cat and canned dog food, paper towels, bleach, laundry detergent, paper plates, cat litter, large dog biscuits and cat toys. Dry dog food is no longer needed due to shelter plan with Science Diet Pet Food. Shelter is open 7 days from noon until 4 p.m. and is located at 48 Public Works Drive off of Kings Highway. Sweeton's desk Warwick - The Town has contracted with a new recycling vendor, County Waste, which started service on Jan. 3. Recycling day remains the same as does the list of approved recyclables. If you have questions regarding recycling, call 986-1120 x 241. • Undecorated natural Christmas trees may be dropped off at the Town Recycling Center located at 65 Public Works Drive until Jan. 31. The center is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. • The town is seeking part-time workers for the recycling center. If you are retired and looking to earn a few extra dollars, call 986-1120 x 241 and we'll put you to work. • With the onset of inclement weather I remind residents that it is illegal to park vehicles on any tTown road during inclement weather.
