During the month of October, Highland Hose and Engine Company treated the students at Golden Hill Elementary School in Florida to an assembly and a tour of the fire trucks in celebration of Fire Prevention Week. They appointed kindergarten students as junior firefighters, and offered fourth grade students the opportunity to enter their annual Fire Prevention Week Contest. The topic of the essay this year was “What it means to be a volunteer firefighter.” All winners were awarded a certificate, a smoke detector, and a Toys-R-Us gift card.
