FDNY firefighter transferred to rehab center

    Eugene "Gene" Stolowski, a New York City firefighter who was critically injured on Jan. 23 after plunging from a burning building in the Bronx, was transferred Tuesday from New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center to the Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation in West Orange, N.J. He is expected to be there for 6-12 months Stolowski, 33, and his wife Brigid, live in the Village of Florida, where he has been a volunteer with the Florida Fire Department and Rescue Squad for the last three years.
