Greenwood Lake, N.Y. - Since 1980 DeFeo's Marina has been a staple on beautiful Greenwood Lake. And each year since 1981, DeFeo's has hosted an annual open house. This year join the professionals at DeFeo's for some good food, great musical entertainment and, of course, boats, next Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 13 and 14. DeFeo's sells and services boats and motors right on Greenwood Lake. If you are in the market for a Bennington pontoon boat, stop by next weekend and take a test ride. Also, DeFeo's sells Regal sport boats; you can take a test ride on one of those if you're game. Then come back to shore and enjoy some hamburgers and hot dogs, along with all the fixings, and take in the sounds of John Corcoran. A boat will provide much enjoyment to your family for many years to come. According to Laurie Stalter, a salesperson at DeFeo's for the past six years, it's like buying a vacation that you will have every day. "Instead of spending thousands of dollars on a vacation that's over in a week or two, (a boat) is a vacation all the time," she said. "It's an instant vacation." DeFeo's keeps their docks in the water from March to November, so if you want to go out on the lake in the spring or drift along and see the beautiful fall foliage, you have access here. And they are open year round. "We want people to get as much time as possible on their boats," said Stalter. The economy plays a part in everything we do and buy. Interestingly, Stalter called 2011 an "exceptional year" for sales at DeFeo, noting they exceeded all of last year's sales by June this year. "People still want their entertainment, an outlet," she said. Having a boat on scenic Greenwood Lake sure fits that bill. This is a great time to buy a boat since DeFeo's is offering great discounts on their new boat lines. DeFeo's staff, including General Manager Steve DeFeo and Service Manager Rick DeFeo, stay up on the latest information on boating, attending boat shows throughout the year. And if you trailer your boat, DeFeo's has a public launch. The festivities get underway at 10 a.m. and last throughout the day until 4 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 13 and 14. In addition to the food, music and boat rides, there are give-aways every hour. It certainly is a great way to spend the day with your family and learn a little something about the joys of boating.
