Emily Shields chosen Warwick High athlete of the week

Warwick - Emily Shields has been selected as this week’s Warwick Valley High School studentnathlete of the week, sponsored by Allstate Insurance Bill Garcia Agency of Warwick. The senior soccer goalie has been an important part of the team’s 9-1-1 record. Emily only has allowed five goals this season through the first 11 games. Her favorite team highlight this season occurred in the contest this past week against Pine Bush; down 2n0 heading into the final 20 minutes, the team rallied for a 3-2 victory. Emily has put tremendous effort in to her soccer game. She is a two-time captain of the girls’ varsity team and plays for the club team Quick Strike FC. Her 97.6 GPA, with a course schedule that includes AP chemistry, French and English, as well as her 1,250 SAT score makes her a great candidate for the Patriot League where she has received attention as a soccer recruit. She is the daughter of Hilda and Craig Shields of Warwick. Her brother Nick attends R.I. T.; her brother Sam is a freshman at Warwick. Gregory Sirico is the Warwick Valley athlete director.
