Eagle Scout candidate plans food drive to benefit Humane Society

    Warwick —Troop 45 Boy Scout Will Hutchison of Warwick is planning a food and supply drive for the Warwick Valley Humane Society as his Eagle Scout service project. The Warwick Valley Humane Society, which has served the community since 1968, is a non-profit organization and is always in need of food, supplies and funds. For his eagle project, Hutchison is asking community members to donate items requested by the Humane Society. On Saturday, Nov. 3, Boy Scouts from Warwick’s Troop 45 will distribute collection bags with instructions and a list to various neighborhoods. Filled donation bags will be picked up the following Saturday, Nov. 10, during the morning. Community members who do not receive a collection bag are encouraged to drop off donations at the Humane Society off Kings Highway from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Nov. 10. All donations will be gratefully accepted. The Warwick Valley Humane Society has requested the following items: Supplies: •Paper towels •Heavy contractor or garbage bags •Paper plates, any size •Dish/laundry liquid soap •Sponges with abrasive side •Latex gloves •Q-tips and cotton balls •Band-aids and other first aid supplies •Small, ceramic cat dishes •Rabbit toys •Cat litter - Non-toxic •Simple Green (bulk) Food: •Any canned food, mostly dog food •Large cans of Pedigree chopped beef •Ground dinners for cats (Friskies, Alpo) •Science Diet dry food Other: •Cash or checks •Gas cards •Copier paper •Track lighting bulbs (65W/120V Reflector Flood)
