    New Hampton — Tires that collect stagnant water are one of the prime breeding grounds for mosquitoes, which carry the West Nile virus. Orange County transfer stations in New Hampton, Newburgh and Port Jervis will accept tires free of charge from Aug. 1 to 31, with a limit of five tires per resident Tires are limited to 17 inches or smaller in size and must be off the rim. Municipalities that wish to participate must bring tires to the New Hampton facility. Businesses will be charged a reduced rate of $75 per ton and must bring tires to the New Hampton facility.
