WARWICK — The 16th annual Duck Derby, to benefit Winslow Therapeutic Center’s “Healing With Horses” program, will be held on Sunday, May 21. The ducks will be released into the creek at 1:30 p.m. During the derby, thousands of bright yellow plastic ducks are released into Wawayanda Creek in Warwick, and travel downstream towards the finish line. The first to cross the finish line will win $1,000, and the next nine will receive prizes. The night before, on Friday, May 20, the Faux Duck Feast will kick off the derby with food and music on Railroad Ave. in Warwick. From 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 21, the Farmer’s Market will hold its grand opening. Winslow makes this a community event by sharing 50 percent of the proceeds of an organization’s ticket sales with that organization. The other half will go to Winslow to help children and adults with special needs. Community organizations and businesses are already selling ducks for $5 each. There are still tickets available for organizations to sell these ducks. For more information, call 986-6686.
