CENTRAL VALLEY-Dr. Sheldon Feldman, local part-time resident and Chief of Louis Venet Breast Service at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City, will be the featured guest speaker Thursday at the American Cancer Society's ninth annual kick-off breakfast for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5K walk. This year's breakfast will be held at Anthony's Pier 9 in Newburgh. Dr. Feldman, forever linked to the Hudson Valley since he established the Fern Feldman Anolick Breast Center at Benedictine Hospital in memory of his sister who died from the disease, will talk about the latest breast cancer treatments. He'll note the strides that have been made since he first began his specialty in breast cancer many years ago. The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer kick-off breakfast was specially created for people who have an interest in breast cancer issues and want to walk with their friends, families, and co-workers in the Oct. 17, event held at Woodbury Common Premium Outlets in Central Valley. Since 1993, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer has been the American Cancer Society's signature event to raise awareness and funds to fight breast cancer. Last year the Eastern Division of ACS raised $11.4 million and drew 140,000 walkers. Through Making Strides, the Society has raised more than $100 million in additional funding for breast cancer r
