Dinner honors sponsors of Warwick Lions 5k Race

WARWICK-A sponsorship dinner on Thursday, Sept. 22, at the Landmark Inn, celebrated the success of the Warwick Lions 5K Race and Walk, that featured a record setting field of 798 participants. Race directors, Carol and George McManus, paid tribute to the runners; the walkers; the community volunteers; their fellow members of the Warwick Lions Club; members of the Warwick fire, police and ambulance corps; and to the sponsors, whose support aids the Lions Quest Program in schools. Vice president George McManus served as master of ceremonies for the evening. Guest speakers included Tim St. Lawrence, the Warwick Valley Boys Varsity cross-country coach and Rich Furst, the Warwick Valley Girls Varsity cross-country coach. Aislinn Ryan, the Footlocker X-Country High School National Champion in 2004, was the final guest speaker. She talked about the feelings she experienced as a participant in 5K races and how important this race has been to her development as a competitor.
