Democratic group starts registration drive

Goshen - The Democratic Alliance will implement a voter registration drive throughout 19th Congressional District this spring, beginning on April 29 in Peekskill and working for six consecutive weekends between April and June. In 2003, the alliance registered about 1,200 voters in Newburgh and Middletown, according to Michael Sussman, the group’s convenor. He added that the group expects to match that total this spring in the Congressional district now represented by Republican Sue Kelly. “We continue to expend our national treasure exporting democracy while the rates of political involvement in our own country call into question our real commitment to the electoral process,”Sussman said in a press release.
