Cycle Fitness opens in Pine Island
Pine Island - Two years ago, Gregory Bedross, owner of Cycle Fitness Center, decided to take some indoor spinning lessons in preparation for some heavy duty outdoor cycling. The experience taught him that indoor spinning, ranging from moderate exercise to racing, requires a sound and complete approach. “I learned that some training can be too much as well as too little,” said Bedross, who became a Spin Certified Instructor. Last December, he opened Cycle Fitness Center at 696 County Route 1 in Jack’s Plaza, Pine Island. The center does not require any long term membership fees and offers an introductory spinning ride at 12:30 on Saturdays and Sundays. The introduction includes instruction, a warm-up period, a 20-minute ride and cool-down. Reservations are encouraged but as Bedross added, “It’s also OK to just show and go.” During the group introductory ride Bedross will explain proper bike setup including how to adjust the cycle seat to the proper level, handlebar height and foot position. Riders will be able to monitor speed-levels and their own heart rate. Regular scheduled rides, available seven days and evenings and including warm-up and cool-down are one-hour and can cost as little as $8. The Cycle Fitness Center also offers an eight-week weight loss program. For additional information, call the Center at 775-3396 or visit www.cyclefitnesscenter.com. Sunsations Another new business in Jack’s Plaza, County Route1, Pine Island, is “Sunsations,” a tanning salon that also sells gifts and jewelry as well as tanning products. Owner Lisa Posca, who lives in Warwick with her husband, Steven, opened her salon four months ago. “I wanted to have something I could do with my daughter when she graduated from high school,” said Posca. Sunsations is truly a family business. Posca operates her tanning salon, not only with her daughter Ashley Fitzgerald but with help from her nephew Matthew Leon and her sister Donna Schmick. “I also have to thank my daughter’s friends: Kara Bonelli, Annmarie Myles and Valarie Treschitta, who help out and are like my own daughters,” added Posca. Sunsations offers three levels of tanning as well as spray tanning. The salon is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Reservations are preferred but walk-ins are welcome. Call 258-1600.
