Warwick - Anybody in the Warwick area into aggressive, experimental and/or underground music and top five lists should not miss the show this Friday, Jan. 13, at the Warwick Valley Community Center, starting at 6:30 p.m. Here’s the lineup: • Casket Architects: Like a fist-shaped rocket blazing ashes from the Coloradoan tomb of a gonzo journalist legend, the Casket Architects guarantee an aggressively weird and memorable sonic spectacle every single time they take the stage. This thunder-breathing beast of a power trio blows doors down with complicated riff-age, maniac distortion, obscure apocalyptic science fiction references and award-winning personality. (myspace.com/CasketArchitects) • I Am the End: Formerly called Lizzy Borden, these are angry adolescents who like to musically express the amusing anxieties of making blood flow restricting fashion choices. All Levis aside, these death metal growling and hardcore breakdown banging ankle biters can chugga chugga like nobody’s business. (myspace.com/IamTheEndx) • Mabus: A quadruple entendre of fast, punishing, chunky and attention-grabbing metal-core. Their front man is sure to get you into a vicious, head-banging and claw-raising frenzy, but be careful with him because he’s got a bum knee. Plus, they are label-mates with the Casket Architects on Glacial Records (www.glacialrecords.com). (myspace.com/Mabus) • Nathaniel White: From the axe-wielding ashes of Against My Own and Lost in Purgatory comes this swingin’ metal band from Chester. Expect some growling, instrument slaying and floor pounding. Nathaniel White’s presence on this bill is like adding thick shards of chocolate into the mix of a really dense milk shake. (myspace.com/NathanielWhiteTheBand) • Knives Wide Open: If there is such thing as a “heavy belt,” these guys must have grown up being beaten with it. Knives Wide Open, featuring members of All Out War, Dissolve and the Secret Police (the band), are as fast paced and intimidating as watching freight trains crash in your living room. Expect awesome breakdowns, awesome covers and really nice dudes. (myspace.com/KnivesWideOpen) • Dactyl: A heavy Baltimore band with skeletal preoccupations. Their drummer collects skulls and the experience of Dactyl live is like intercepting the path of a flying, concrete staircase with the front of your rib cage. (myspace.com/Dactyl) • Humans are the Worst Invention: Humans are the Worst Invention is what it would sound like if Mario Andretti put all of your records through an evil, snarling cheese grater and screamed in your ear. He is a one-man aural assault unit and a former member of Murdershift. Humans is going to play quite a few times throughout the night to accompany the nail biting tedium of the set up time in between bands.
