Warwick - The Warwick Valley School District and The Warwick Advertiser are expanding a cub reporter program and will now have seven young journalists covering stories from the elementary and middle schools. Last year, cub reporters from Pine Island, Park Avenue, Kings and Sanfordville schools wrote stories about school plays, taking tests, what it was like to compete in the Odyssey of the Mind competition, among many others. This year, three of those students - now sixth graders - will continue to provide stories for The Advertiser, but this time from the Middle School. In addition, fifth-graders from each of the elementary schools will continue the tradition started last year. “This is an important program for the newspaper,” said Bob Quinn, the Advertiser’s managing editor. “These young people bring a perspective to news and stories that we otherwise wouldn’t have. And that will make the paper better. “Besides, if you want to know what’s going on in school, ask a kid.” For their first assignment, the cub reporters were asked to provide a brief autobiography. Here they are: • Joey Forbidussi. I am a fifth-grader from Pine Island Elementary School. I’m 11 years old and my family is a sister, Katie, my mom and my dad.
