Warwick - Students at St. Stephen-St. Edward School in Warwick recently rose to a challenge. They were asked to invent or design an original, practical, creative project that their peers, adults or pets could use or appreciate with minimal difficulty. Stretching their minds and talents, the students created projects in one of the following categories: toys and recreational games or activities; clothing and accessories; healthy foods and healthy activities; home and pet products. On March 16, the entries were judged by five educators: Kathy Hubner, Barbara Johansen, Joseph Maggio, Karen Wade and Rita Wtulich, who traveled from various places in Orange County as well as from New Jersey and Rockland County. Three of the judges were so impressed with the entries, they asked to return to judge next year’s “Applied Science Challenge.” Fran Fay coordinated the event and the school’s principal, Mary Lou Moccia, presented the awards to the winners.
