Warwick — Have you ever wondered how to make your own journal? The Albert Wisner Public Library will sponsor a Bookmaking Workshop in two sessions, from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 25 and 26, at 2 Colonial Ave. in Warwick. The workshop is intended to show participants how to make a blank journal, using the coptic binding method. The workshop will be conducted by artist and writer Renie Garlick. She was a major organizer for the collaborative artists’ project and exhibit “CrowKula,” which was featured at the Warwick Summer Arts Festival and is still growing. Garlick continues to offer workshops and to encourage all manner of art-making. Each participant will be given the opportunity to create their own book. Materials will be supplied. Bookmaking is a useful skill for an artist, a writer, and for those who use a journal regularly, or enjoy creating beautiful and useful items. When people have the skills to create their own, they can design and customize the journal to suit their needs. The workshop is limited to 15 participants, and registration is required. Call the library at 986-1047 to register, or stop by the adult reference desk at the library.
