Construction on schedule at St. Anthony Community Hospital

WARWICK - Oct. 24 marked the sixth month of construction for St. Anthony Community Hospital’s new Same Day Services wing. If work continues at this same pace with no interruptions, the Same Day Services wing will open to patients on schedule in February 2007. As part of its modernization and expansion program, St. Anthony Community Hospital, a member of Bon Secours Charity Health System, is doubling the size of its emergency department and adding a one-story patient care unit to the eastern end of the hospital. The purpose of the project is to accommodate the growth of the community as well as new developments in health care. When completed, the result will be an ability to provide more people in this area with quality and expanded services. This project will enable the hospital to accommodate more new technology in order to continue attracting the best physicians and staff while increasing space for out-patient services along with inpatient and Emergency Department capacity. There will also be important upgrades made to the infrastructure serving the facility, such as electrical, heating and cooling improvements. When the new wing is finished, Same Day Service will move from the hospital’s fourth floor into its new home and renovations will begin to ready that space for inpatient care. Meanwhile, work on the Emergency Department portion of the project is now underway. And a new arched canopy has been constructed to accommodate two ambulances at one time. The canopy offers greater protection from rain and snow for patients.
